OUR GUESTS ASK FOR IT, AND WE HAVE NOW COMPLETED

Cross-Country Ski Trails have now been cut and groomed to each of the cabins for easy access to the trails at the Arctic Circle Ski Center.  Currently we have a 28' base.

Hot Propane Camp Showers have been ordered for the Cabin and each of the yurts, they will be up and running by the end of February.

Tree House should be completed (been to cold guys)

NEW ADDITIONS TO THE WEBSITE

AS USUAL OUR NEW GUEST PHOTOS

ADIRONDACK HIGH PEAKS PAGE - A personal opinion page

FOCUS ON THE FAMILY PAGE - Trying to get families to open lines of communication and increase their interactions as a family unit.

ADIRONDACK FIRE TOWERS - We are trying to develop a page regarding Adirondack fire tower history, some of their details and the directions to these endangered structures.

The Adirondack Mountain Club is also currently offering a fire tower challenge, which involves climbing the summits of these endangered areas prior to their demise.

Back To Basics has also been corresponding with Marty Podskoch regarding his book Adirondack Fire Towers (Southern District) and he has graciously given us permission to publish some of the details of his book on the website.  We were also rewarded with details to the Adirondack Fire Towers (Northern District) that is not due to be published until 2005.    We have also listed a schedule of Marty's current lectures on the website.  He will be presenting at the Caroga Lake Museum on July 29th at 7:00 pm, and we look forward to his presentation.

FIREARM SAFETY COURSE - A new course developed to help you prepare for the safety and guideline requirements needed prior to taking a hunter safety course.

MISCELLANOUS SURVIVAL COURSES - these courses are now being offered for our guest that have only require a few pieces of the puzzle or do not have the time frame to participate in a full week or two weekend courses.

MESSAGE FORUM - We are also trying out a new message forum on the website.  We thought it would be a nice area for our previous guest to post their feedback, for potential guests who wish to ask questions, or for anyone just wishing to discuss the Adirondacks.  We will see how it goes?

BACK TO BASICS NEEDS YOUR SUGGESTIONS

Val, Matt, and Dominick's Suggestions
Remote Base Camp for Excursions
Signs to help locate the individual camps??????????????

Bruce & Suzanne's Suggestions
Currently working on an NLP book for the trail, but a lot of legwork and driving.

Morteza, Sid, Vahid, Shahriar
Hot Showers for the Camps and Yurts

OUR PET FRIENDLY GUESTS

NO NEW FRIENDS FOR POPCORN THIS QUARTER.

NEW THINGS YOUR HOSTS HAVE LEARNED FROM YOU
Val, Matt, & Dominick - thank you for the great suggestions about the remote camp.  We learned from our first hunters that hunters do have patience and respect even when they are eager for their hunting trip, tired and hungry after their long day.  It was a pleasure to have you as our first experience.

Mark & Fiona -Always take time to kick back and relax

Richard & Melissa - When driving through the small towns, local law enforcement does exist and do watch speed limits.

Drew & Debbie - The kids sleds work well for hauling multiple gear and each other.

BIRTHDAYS, ANNIVERSARYS & SPECIAL OCCASIONS
If you would please send birthday announcements, anniversaries and special occasion dates we would like to post them on our quarterly newsletter.

NEW BACK TO BASICS REUNION NEWS!
We at Back To Basics continue planning the free weekend reunion of our past guests scheduled for June 25-June 28, 2004.  Currently Whitetail Run has been reserved for Bruce & Suzanne and Bear Necessities was reserved for Debbie and her family.  We are very pleased they will be returning for the 1st year reunion.  The only thing required for the reunion is that a dinner dish is prepared nightly by all to share with the guests.  If you would like to book for the Back To Basics reunion, please email us at borntobeoutdoors@gmail.com or call us at 518-775-1747.  We are also considering inviting our neighbors who have help progress Back To Basics during the past year on Saturday Evening.  Let us know what you think??

POPCORN'S KERNEL:
Please bring me some of your pets and kids to play with while you stay here. Adult humans can be boring!

Popcorn has been having a great winter vacation by himself.
“Been depressing lately, no doggy friends the last three months”
“I still continue to bark at the guests walking through, even though I have spent the whole week and weekend with them.”

“I was able to help Val, Matt, and Dominick back to Whitetail Run, they were a little disorientated - maybe too much time in the woods, or are they looking for the treats too?”

“Had a not myself episode over the last three months.”  “Mom thought maybe I got in to the De-con at the camps when we didn't have visitors.”  “Had a lovely trip to the vet lady for some fluids and antibiotics, but just resulted in depression from no doggy visitors”.
“Mom just being too careful with my shenanigans, but she did get to take home a receipt and a depressed POP”.

“Diamond, my girlfriend also received a new red sweater for Christmas, I'VE SEEN IT, just waiting to tear it apart when Dad & Mom open the door.”
