PETER COMES TO THE ADIRONDACKS
FOR WRITING - REST  & RELAXATION
ALONG WITH SOME HIKING & CANOEING
Peter came to the Adirondacks to enjoy some rest, relaxation and writing.
I claim this "sinking" land in the name of the great Popcorn.
Peter had reserved four nights a Back To Basics, but decided to stay a few more once he arrived. We also learned that Peter played the penny flute and did an excellent job playing some Irish tunes for us.
Either I was charming the fire, or the fire was charming.
In between is literary writings, peter also took time to explore the wilderness areas of the Adirondacks.  One are he liked was the large beaver pond across the street.
(Left) - Imagine the Beaver Domino effect.  (Right) - Should I throw Dan's watch in the pond?
Dan and I learned that peter was a student in drama and was currently working on a play.
 A good dam beaver!
Peter makes his way to the beaver pond.  Peter was on of our few guests that decided to write his own captions for this Adirondack picture album. Dan and I were very pleased he decided to do so.
(Left) - Where Peter was first sighted by the camera.  (Right) - This was the guest.  If only we had a compass.

Popcorn also enjoyed Peters visit, he got to go exploring quite often during the week.  Busy as a beaver to say the least. This group of beavers have been hard at work.
(Left) - Popcorn not sure if he should chew the log or build a beaver home for dogs out of it.  (Right) - Lake front property goes for a ton.  Can you imagine Lake Center Property.
Popcorn decides on a refreshing dip in the beaver pond, but didn't smell to wonderful upon his return.  This water skimmer as peter named it was a piece of work all in itself.
(Left) - Dan said, "Go North".  (Right) - An inanimate water skimmer.
Peter also got the chance to meet the guest staying at Bear Necessities Cabin. Bill also decided on checking out the beaver dam.  Following the canoe excursion through the beaver pond. We all went done to Bear Necessities for a cold one.
(Left) - There we are trying to pick up a beaver.  (Right) - As rare species we try to avoid exposure.
Bill and Peter enjoyed the shorelines of the remote beaver pond by canoe.  THE BASICS
(Left) - There's something over there!  (Right) - There's got to be something over there!
They both seemed to have a wonderful time checking out the new area.
Ah fooy
Peter enjoyed the clear calm paddling through the beaver pond. It provided much relaxation.
Ahh....when man meets paddle, meets pond.  Musing on pandoras box.
Excellent views were granted by canoe, to get closer to the beavers work.  Obstacle?
(Left) - Oldest beaver trick in the book:  fire hazard in the middle of the lake.  (Right) - Dan never told me this would be a haunted canoe ride.
Peter drifts across the small pond and experiences the solitude of the area.  Dan decided on a little negative art during the canoe trip.
(Left) - We started in one side of the lake... (Right) - ...and ended in the twilight zone.
Pop also found the area enjoyable, lots of sticks to chew on.
No stick is too tough or sneeky for Pop.
The wildlife was abundant along the beaver pond and provided many opportunities for some great photographys.  Nature at it's best

Peter decides to check out another area. Hi Ho Hi Ho.  Even with the overcast skies today, the landscape was beautiful.
(Left) - Another Peter sighting. (Right) - A lengthy reflection.
This little woodpecker was also hard at work looking for his evening meal.
 A little pecker
Even the simple water skimmers were appealing.
Water Skimmers are jealous of my reflection.
Peter did decided to try some Back To Basics homecooking during his stay. Tonights menu: Cheeseburgers, Salad, Oatmeal Raisin Cookies and Ice Tea.
A portrait of a young lake as a stick holder.
Dan & I are glad peter decided on an extra few days to kick back and relax.  Manuevers on the beaver dams can be tricky.

Dan brought the canoe over to the beaver pond across the street and Bill & Peter when to explore the water and wildlife.
The safest canoe ride is dry canoeing.
Can't tell this one's a writer -
Peter takes every opportunity to work on his writing.

Dan & I learned that Peter has his own website for literary works.  It is the Student Revelation.  Here you can experience short stories, drama, poetry, and essays or submit your literary works directly to Peter.

"This is my last day.  So sorry to leave Crows Nest.  This has been a truly rewarding and insightful trip.  Very hospitable hosts, included Pop.
One thing that is very notable is what Dan and Kim are doing.  Like how the beaver pond (ask Dan) replenishes the land, Dan and Kim replenish the area with good, native yearning people.
They were not as I expected and I felt relaxed around their attitudes.
The yurt is an exceptional dwelling and bug free!  I had plans of putting up a yurt, and now that I've stayed in one.  I couldn't have it any other way.
But alas, I must part winds....
PS:  Look for me next summer or on the trails."
