VALERIE'S LONG DISTANCE BACKPACKING TRIP THROUGH THE ADIRONDACK MOUNTAINS

Meet Valerie
"Tomorrow the day is finally here, I start to hike the Northville-Placid Trail. My name is Valerie and I live in West Sand Lake, NY, about 10 miles east of Albany. If 10 years ago someone told me I would be doing this I would have told them that they're crazy. Now its a dream come true. Funny how people change.
My plan is to do the NPT in 10 days and I'm pretty sure I can do it. Isee it more as a good time than a challenge. I love long hikes, getting into that groove of putting one foot in front of the other. This will be my longest stretch spent in the Adirondacks and I think I will return home a better person. About 50% of this I've hiked before - Benson to Piseco, all through the West Canada Lakes and around Duck Hole & Cold River - a lot of this hike will be aon familiar ground.
