MEET YOU HALF WAY IN THE ADIRONDACKS!
October 1, 2004 - October 3, 2004
Meet Stephen & Julie
![]() This was a unique couple, Dan & I adored a lot. It began the morning of October 1st, when Stephen called us asking if we had a "room". We explained we were a remote wilderness camp. We discussed the accommodations and as soon as the word treehouse was out, Stephen booked it.
![]() We gave Stephen directions from Manhattan, and then again were confused when he asked for directions from Montreal, Canada. We found out that Julie was coming from Montreal and Stephen was heading from Manhattan to meet half way for a get-away weekend. While they were here we also learned that Stephen is originally from Montreal, but currently is working in the city and that his girlfriend Julie still resides in Montreal.
![]() I think, Dan and I were more excited that they were to get together here and looked forward to their arrival. Julie did get turned around in Saratoga Springs (her hosts did not realize there was many exits), but she did arrive prior to Stephen and took care setting up their evening accommodations prior to his arrival. After Julie had set up the tree house, Stephen arrived to Back To Basics shortly after.
![]() Stephen and Julie, we left alone, it was time to catch up on some lost time. Stephen & Julie came up to the main house to find out about "Back To Basics", and how to being the process. Dan and I were amazed that this was the first couple that totally comprehended the Basics. They arrived - they walked in, they came at night open the door and walked in. They were comfortable and they were family. MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME!
![]() Stephen did let us know on their trip through the Back To Basics property that the squirrels were taking every Bon-Bon they could get. Dan and I are now looking for the mystery squirrels.
![]() Stephen and Julie did partake in our ritual porch signing prior to departing and Dan & I do hope they consider returning in the near future.

"Owl's nest was exactly what we were hoping to find for our get-away weekend, a comfortable; warm, remote cabin deep in the woods. We fell asleep to the sound of the coyotes, owls and the light nipping of the rain on the tin roof. It was the most relaxing week-end ever!
Kim and Dan have done a great job at Back To Basics. They are wonderful hosts who have invited us into their home and their life and have taken great care of us."

PS: Thanks for the chocolate!
"Hi, Stephen here. I need to come out & say this: I snuck into the yurt to steal chocolate. There, I said it. I mean, c'mon, that's top-quality chocolait there, and the door wasn't even locked! Kim & Dan must really be nuts to leave the truffels out in the woods. Maybe they knew, I liked truffels, & maybe they wanted me to take some. If that's true then they are angels here on earth. Because man, those were good truffels."
