ADIRONDACK TREEHOUSE FOR YOUR NEXT ADIRONDACK VACATION

September 3, 2004 - September 6, 2004

Meet Bruce, Julia & Kevin
This labor day holiday we were again pleased to share with Bruce, Julia & Kevin
Bruce, Julia & Kevin returned to Back To Basics for a Labor Day Weekend Getaway. They were the first occupants of the Owl's Nest Tree house and as always we were glad to have them.

This was a great activity for the kids.  A quick and easy blackberry recipe for the kids.
While Bruce and Kevin decided to head into town for supplies, Julia decided on some blackberry picking with Taryn, Rachel, and Zara.

This afternoon delight was enjoyed by all  Bruce & Kevin had a terrific father and son relationship. Kevin loved spending the time with his dad.
The blackberry plan was to mix with sugar and milk for a delicious afternoon treat. Mean while Bruce and Kevin returned from their shopping details.

Ready or not here we come!
The plan upon everyone's return was a canoeing excursion on Pine Lake.
The canoe's were ready, Bruce was ready, and Kevin was more than ready.
The father son activity was sure to be a blast!  Pine Lake is located in the Southern Adirondacks, just minutes outside Caroga and Canada Lakes.
(Left) Bruce and Kevin unloaded the canoe and prepared for the afternoon excursion.
(Right) Pine Lake view prior to launching the canoes.

Oh happy day!
Kevin was very excited about the day's canoeing event. Julia however decided on a day of swimming at the launch with Taryn & Rachel.

The beaver dams make excellent areas to explore either on foot or by canoe.  Out on a limb?
Bruce and Kevin decided to discover the back end of Pine Lake and found a couple neat beaver dams to explore during their outing.

Kevin even got a wildlife tour during his canoe trip.  Maybe a great fisherman's cove?
(Left) - The wildlife was out this cloudy afternoon. (Right) Kevin wasn't going to give in. It was time to explore another cove.

Maybe some more wildlife viewing.
What was around the bend? Dad and Kevin were about to find out!

Dead end run!
Another busy beaver! No passage here.

Explore the possibility?  Watch your footing!
Kevin decided to get out to do some exploring of the area.

Was this a new venture for Kevin, we would say not.
The canoe paddle made an excellent walking stick during Kevin's venture.

A beautiful day along the North end of Pine Lake.  A peaceful place.
The North end of Pine Lake is full of wonderful areas to discover.

Quite the stepping stone.
Bruce & Kevin's Rock

Some great kid fun out on the lake.
Kevin does a wonderful job navigating the canoe.

Not as big as the great lakes or lake george, but a quiet area with a lot of opportunities for wildlife viewing.  The open water was relaxing and Bruce loved his father and son getaway.
A great Father & Son photo. Kevin & Bruce decided on a day of paddling the flatwaters of Pine Lake.

Bruce sees Back To Basics as a relaxing place to visit.  Bruce decided on a last minute getaway to the Adirondacks, and we are pleased he did so.
This was not Bruce's first trip to Dan & Kim's. Bruce has actually visited us four times as of now. One trip spent in Crow's, Two trips spent in Whitetail, and this trip for Owl's Nest. Looks like were going to have to build more accommodations for Bruce to try.

Bruce had prepared a great focus on the family weekend getaway.
Bruce & his family are always a pleasure to have. Dan & I look foward to their visits.

Make sure you have everyone, we don't want any missing people!  Bruce even took in some climbing during his trip.
How many people can you actually fit in a Jeep Wrangler. This particular trip: two canoes, gear, and six people.

A great bonfire night.
Upon return to Back To Basics it was time for the evening activities.

NOW THIS IS EATING OUT!!!!!  A late night barbeque, who could ask for more!
Dinner tonight was prepared by all. The menu was Hamburgers, Lasagna, and Sami & Sam's Rice dish (as soon as I remember or find out what the name of it was, I will pass it on).

Outdoor grilling does make the food taste better.  Right here waiting!
Bruce tended to the grilling, while Julia waited patiently by the bonfire.

The kids loved the card games, we have no idea what card game Taryn was playing.
Taryn, Kevin, & Julia then decided on a late night card game.

Bruce does an excellent musical performance with his acoustic guitar. Everyone kicked back by the fire to enjoy his playing.  The evening guitar playing was wonderful. A perfect end to a perfect day.
Bruce completed our perfect evening, with his musical talent. As always, Dan & I and the guests, enjoyed his guitar playing. Thank you again!!

"We are lucky to be the first inhabitants of Owl Nest. This is a magical place! We heard an owl hooting in the middle of the night. Bless all dwellers of this cabin."
