Caton at Bear Necessities during the evening campfire.
Caton we learned is three-months along and expecting her & Mark's new arrival in December 2004, and we wish them our best.

Duncan enjoyed his adirondack vacation, but did protect his owners just as scout did.  Jen and Mark find out details about the canoeing trip in the Adirondacks.
Duncan doesn't know quite what to make of the current situation, but is having a great time.  Jen and Mark during their stay at Bear Necessities around the bonfire (right).

Caton took in the relaxation at camp and did choose the ground seat.  Dan & Jen during their discussion of tommorrows canoeing adventure.
Caton (left) we learned missed the orientation to the camp speech from Dan and I during their arrival to camp.

We later learned that Caton & Mark had the pull out couch downstairs, but no one informed them were the extra blankets and pillows were kept.  They did spend a night of survival unexpectedly.

Caton next time just go upstairs and start grabbing!

Jen & Dan (right) talking about tomorrows canoeing excursion with the group.  The destination be West Lake Boat Launch.  From here the group can access, Green Lake, Canada Lake, West Lake, and Lily Lake.

Griffith had no problem relaxating at Back To Basics. He fit in perfectly.
A wonderful Back To Basic Photo of Griffith in the Adirondacks.  Time to kick back and relax.

The bonfire at camp provided a wonderful relaxating atmosphere for the group to rekindle their days events.
The fire ring that the group prepared at camp was quite enjoyable.

Tiffany seemed right at home with a kick back weekend retreat.
Tiffany seemed very comfortable with her Adirondack evening and dinner at the bonfire.  She selected the comfortable camp chair to kick-back and relax in.

Andrew also tended to the groups comfort by tending to the campfire.
Andrew was the groups firetender and did an excellent job.  Andrew even had the camp wood collected for the following days fire before the canoeing departure in the am.

Caton did appeared tired, but she was up most of the evening neglected of blankets and pillows.   Whereas, Griffith and Tiffany partook in the ambience of the evening bonfire.
Caton (left) was worried about Duncan and Scout during their first canoeing event tommorrow.  The dogs have never experienced a canoe, but Dan & I assured them that if Duncan & Scout had a problem they could spend the day with us at the Main House; but Caton was determined to try.  Griffith and Tiffany (right) don't seem the least bit concerned about the canoeing trip tommorrow.

WHERE IS THE SNAKE, MUST BE HERE SOMEWHERE!   All did look for the garden snake, but it would not appear tonight, Andrew was the one who did locate it in the early morning hours.
During the campfire conversation, Dan let the group now about the large garden snake at camp.  Everyone decided to locate his whereabouts.

Mark also attempted to locate the snakes habitat, but resulted in no luck tonight.
All looked including Mark, but the garden snake was no where to be found.

It was decided a group picture was in order.  Dan took the first picture of the unorganized group (left) and the second showing that organization of this group is possible (right).

The canoeing group prior to their Adirondack canoeing adventure on West Lake.    They were eager to depart, but again unorganized at first, but as always this group quickly gets organization in check.
The following morning it was time to depart to West Lake Launch for the days paddling in the canoes.  After the canoes were placed for launching, Dan went over the map of the area.

Scarlet who no one figured to be apprehensive about the canoes decided to jump ship during the excursion, she did not like the fact that Mom & Dad were in separate canoes.    Scout however took well to the canoeing adventure.
Scarlet (left) loved the water and immediately checked out the conditions, where as scout (right) was a bit wary.

Jen & Dan go over the maps at the West Lake Boat Launch in the ADK Mountains.
Everyone prepared for an afternoon of canoeing in the Adirondacks.

Andrew and Caton also took in the map detail regarding the lake and terrain.  Scarlet however, could care less, she's just waiting to go.  The canoe gear gathered and take off in progress.
Andrew listened in about the canoe routes while Caton held on to Scout (left).
Scarlet was still intrigued with the new water source and her freedom (middle).
Jen and Tiffany gathered their canoe gear and day supplies for the upcoming excursion (right).

Andrew waited as the ladies boarded the canoe.  Once the ladies were set, the gentlemen proceeded to man their canoe. The ladies were to take Scarlet and the gentlemen Scout and Duncan.
Andrew took in the details regarding the canoeing trip from West Lake Launch (left).  The women in the group prepared their canoe along with boarding Scarlet for her paddling adventure.

The gentlemen had no problem departing even with Scout and Duncan present.
The gentlemen are off along with Scout and Duncan during their first canoeing adventure.  Both pets did wonderful.

The women however had Scarlet who decided to bail.  Scarlet decided to swim in front of the ladies canoe during the trip out of West Lake outlet.
Both the ladies and gentlemen proceeded through West Lake Outlet in order to hit the main lake of West Lake with access to Canada, Lily and Green Lakes.

The group was able to get Scarlet back in check and did arrive home safety after a day of paddling in the Adirondacks.
Before Dan & I departed we noticed that Scout and Duncan whom Caton was worried about in the canoes were adjusting just find.  However, Scarlet took the plunge and decided to swim along side the canoe.  The group was able to get her back in the canoe, but only after Jen & Griffith decided on sharing the same transportation.  Instinct still takes precedence!

"The six (plus 3 pups) had a wonderful time.  Our hosts were wonderful and made us feel as though we were staying in an old friend's cabin.  We hiked 3 trails and went canoeing for 6 hours!  The fire keep us warm and cozy at night and Dan, Kim, Rachel and Taryn were more than welcoming hosts.  We will tell all our friends.  See you next time!"
