ADIRONDACK FISHING AND FRIENDS

Meet Andre & Kerry

May 4, 2004 - May 7, 2004

Upon our night return from Powley Road Fishing in the Adirondack Park. Our neighbor Doug was also present for this photo.
Andre & Kerry arrived in the Adirondacks to enjoy some backcountry fishing.  They currently reside in Lansing, Michigan and it was more than a pleasure to have them at Back To Basics.  I don't know who had more fun them or us.
Kerry at breakfast enjoying a low carb sausage bake.
The morning of May 5th we prepared breakfast at the main house prior to departing for Powley Road.  Andre & Kerry asked in advance for a low carb diet.  This mornings breakfast was a sausage bake.
Andre we learned is an Intensive Care Nurse in Michigan and is also involved in Downhill Skiing Rescue.
Andre enjoyed breakfast also, but awaited departure for the fishing on Powley Road.
Hope breakfast wasn't that bad Kerry.
Kerry we learned works for the State of Michigan.  Following breakfast we departed for Powley Road for a day's fishing on the East & West Branch of Canada Creek.   During the 20 minute ride we did see a few turkey along roadside.
Andre preparing his fishing pole for the Canada Creek.
Upon arrival to Powley Road it only took Andre a minute to hit the water, with rain and all.

Andre seemed pleased with his new surroundings and immediately kick-backed and relaxed.
Andre told Kerry it would be a nightmare for snags, but Andre could care less and lost quite a bit of tackle to the creek.
We love black and white photos and you will see many throughout the website.
A wonderful black and white of Andre fishing the Powley Road.

I always seemed to get either the back of Kerry or no smile, and we were determined to change that by the end of the fishing trip.

I left Andre and Kerry to the business at hand and drove up stream to check out how the other areas were doing.

I had moved upsteam and decided to head down along the river to see how Andre and Kerry were progressing with the fishing.

We learned at this point of the fishing trip, that Andre graciously donated his pole to the fish in West Lake.  We made a brief pull over to reset Andre with a pole, while Kerry stated she would catch his fish for him.  Popcorn was snoring enjoying his first ever canoe ride.

Andre was determined not to let his lost pole discourage his trip. He attempted a pole far away from the norm of his fishing.
Andre now with a new pole, still maintained his determination at fishing the Adirondacks.
Prior to supper, Andre and Kerry set out for an evening of fishing in the canoe along Lily Lake.

The adirondacks hold many nys boat launches for your boating adventures. Many are at NYS campgrounds. This New York Adirondack photo is of West Lake in the Spring. It is a few minutes north of caroga lake and only minutes from Adirondack Wilderness Adventures Yurts.
We arrived home to West Lake the next morning following a rough canoe crossing.

"Since day #1 of correspondence we knew that trip to "Back To The Basics" was gonna be special.  Little did Kerry & I realize on arrival did we expect a welcome of friendship; not a tour guide, not a commercial service, but a warm & greeting "join our family" type of atmosphere.  Needless to say, our stay has been fulfilling, bountiful at what the Adirondacks has to offer (and will offer future trips here), but most of all this trip has bonded a friendship.  Thank you so much!"
OUTSTANDING!
Love,
ANDRE & KERRY
