ROMANTIC GETAWAY IN THE ADIRONDACKS
CAROLE & DOUG CELEBRATE THEIR
 25TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

August 7, 2004 - August 11, 2004
Meet Carolyn & Doug
Meet Carole and Doug from Columbus Ohio.
Carole & Doug decide on a 25th Anniversary Getaway in the Adirondacks.

Carole & Doug experience a romantic getaway in the Adirondack Mountains.
Carole & Doug arrived after a 10 hour drive from Columbus, Ohio for a romantic getaway in the Adirondacks for their 25th Wedding Anniversary.

Carole & Doug selected Crow's Nest Yurt for their Adirondack getaway.   Doug and Carole decided on some hiking and golfing during their Adirondack 25th Wedding Anniversary.
Carole had opted for the Crow's Nest Yurt for their romantic getaway from the stress of life.  Both Carole & Doug appeared relaxed with their new accommodations.

Carole we learned works as a secretary in Ohio, but loves the outdoors. The plan was an exchange for the wilderness for golfing.
Carole & Doug built and outdoor campfire in the evening and took in a couple hiking excursions during the day.

Doug seemed comfortable in his wilderness surroundings, and he and Carole went for multiple day hikes in the surrounding area.
Doug we learned was an avid golfer and looked forward to trying some of the Adirondack golf courses.

The evening of their arrival we went through woodstove lesson 101 to make them comfortable during their stay.  Carole found humor in the Back To Basics lessons.
Doug and Carole were great guests.  They adjusted to Dan's kidding immediately and put him right in check.

Carole found alot of humor in the melted candles. The yurts can get warm during the day and the candles take their own form.
During the woodstove lesson 101, Kim also let Carole know that the yurts get warm during the day and the candles do melt.  Carole found humor in the previous candles left in the yurt.

Carole knew exactly were everything was kept during their wilderness adventure.  Doug found humor with the camp showers, he would figure it out, and did.
Carole and Doug decided to take in some day hikes, star gazing, and campfires during their trip to the Adirondacks.

The bet was for $5.00 for a good photographic view. This was Dan's first attempt.
Carole and Dan had a bet going.  This was Dan's attempt to collect on the bet.

Carole and her new friend Mr. Black Bear. Mr. Black Bear will be relocating to the Bear Necessities Cabin shortly.
The following evening, Carole & Doug came to the main house to help celebrate Taryn's 9th birthday.  Carole did find a buddy at the main house.  Meet Mr. Black bear.

This evening at the Main house was Taryn's 9th birthday, we also celebrated  Doug found humor in the evening. Dan's cooking methods resulted in quite the array of BBQ techniques.
The dinner menu that evening was Taryn's pick.  It was cheeseburgers, shrimp cocktail and chips.  Carole and Doug also provided a wonderful Cheese & Pepperoni Platter.

Zara decided to take  We learned that most people walk dogs, not bulls.
BUT THIS BE BLEECKER!
Zara (Taryn and Rachel's friend) also came over to join the party.  Zara even brough "Butch".  In Bleecker you don't walk the dog, you walk the bull.

Carole was a little hesitant, but did make a new pet friend during her stay.  Carole even decided on a couple of photos of Butch.
Carole and Doug both checked out the new pet.

Butch will try to eat anything. The sweater or camera was a least worth a try.
Carole was a little hesitant, but "Butch" still made his wishes known.

By the end of the trip: Dan & Carole were still going at it: WHO WAS THE WINNER?
Carole lets Dan know!!!!!

Nine Corner lake is in the Ferris Wilderness area and provides wonderful scenery with a short hike.
Doug & Carole decided on a short hiking jaunt to Nine Corner Lake.

Carole & Doug enjoyed their excursion to 9 Corner Lake and even decided on a picnic lunch.

"Back to Basics for our 25th Anniversary was completely appropriate! We had the peace & quiet we needed and time to relax back into the nature surrounding us.  Rediscovering each other while walking in the woods, hangin out around the campfire, picnicing by 9 Corner Lake... it was all very peaceful and good.
We enjoyed helping Taryn & Wild Bill celebrate their birthdays.
It was fun hearing their neighbors interacting w/Dan & Kim, and meeting the "bull" was a kick too.
Dan & Kim - I hope your little slice of heaven continues to become what you envision it to be!
Thank you for your hospitality and for providing the possibilities."
DOUG & CAROLE

Hi Kim and Dan,
Hope you're both well.  We got home to some beautifully cool weather!
ahhhh! Here are some of the pictures that we took.  I'm still working on
getting them to be the right size, so if they are too big, feel free to edit
and reformat them.  I trust you to caption them appropriately.  I also have
some wonderful pictures of the burgers Dan tried valiently to rescue....from the inferno that was charring them hopelessly. I will try to get the whole lot to you, but please, don't feel you need to put them on the 25th anniversary web!!

Had a blast there!  Thanks again.

Carole
