At Back To Basics Adirondack Wilderness Adventures we not only cater to the avid outdoors adventure person, but to - - the backwoods BEGINNER. Whether you decide to join your hosts for a recreational excursion or total relaxation, the main goal is to keep you from those everyday stressors of life (the main reason Adirondack Wilderness Adventures was established). You are here to enjoy all the recreational offerings and solitude, that the Southern Adirondack Mountains have to offer. Go Back To The Basics - YOU DESERVE IT!
Back To Basics is located atop Bleecker Mountain, and is known as a unique Adirondack Outdoor experience. Your hosts reside in the same type of accommodations as you do, with a few exceptions. Our backcountry remote family homestead is located on the Fulton and Hamilton County boarder in Upstate New York. We do reside on the same property that your unique lodging is located. This is for your convenience, and for any questions that may arise during your stay.
The wildlife here is abundant and deer, turkey, and black bear frequent the area. The recreational activities are located either at doorstep or just minutes away depending on your individual pleasure.
Up front and honest, we are a resort of a different sort. How you will be greeted from your hosts upon arrival will always remain a mystery at Back To Basics (ask our previous guests). Your hosts, run it all - from your accommodations, meals, outdoor education, and guided trips, to the daily chores. Do not be surprised if your hosts greet you in poly pros and fleece after a days work. We at Back To Basics also expect you to do the same; wear what is comfortable (maybe the jeans with the hole). The point being here is do what you would do at home, minus the stressors. You want to put your feet up - DO IT! You want to take the blankets outside to the hammock - GO FOR IT! Arrive with your favorite beverage in hand. YOU DESERVE TO RELAX - THAT'S WHY YOU CAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your hosts will make you a deal. You come as you are and we will stay as we are. REMEMBER YOU BE BACK TO BASICS!

THRU-HIKERS HIKING THE 133 MILES - CONTACT US FOR YOUR OUTDOOR ADVENTURE HIKING NEEDS AND FREE BLEECKER BUNK HOSTEL ACCOMMODATIONS.
WE WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH A HOSTEL, AND SHUTTLE TO AND FROM THE SOUTHERN END OF THE NORTHVILLE LAKE PLACID TRAIL. YOU MAY ALSO USE PARKING ON THE PREMISES INSTEAD OF THE TRAILHEAD, IF YOU PREFER.
YOUR HOST IS A LICENSED NYS GUIDES AND VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE NORTHVILLE LAKE PLACID TRAIL. I WILL GLADLY ANSWER ANY QUESTION OR CONCERNS YOU MAY HAVE REGARDING THE NLT TRAIL, EVEN IF YOU DO NOT WISH NLP HOSTEL ACCOMMODATIONS.
IF YOU ENCOUNTER PROBLEMS ALONG YOUR BACKPACKING THRU-HIKE EXCURSION, PLEASE CALL, AND I WILL DO MY BEST TO ASSIST YOU AT ANY LOCATION.
NTP BACKPACKERS PLEASE NOTE: THE TRAIL ACCESS AT MCCANES IS NOW CLOSED AND MUST BE ACCESSED BY DAY & WEEKEND BACKPACKERS THROUGH LAKE DURANT TO GAIN ACCESS TO STEPHENS POND OR THE CASCADE POND. THRU-HIKERS OF THE NTP TRAVELING THE WHOLE NTP TRAIL ARE NOT REQUIRED TO CONTACT MR. MACALUSO.
